BlackBerry Storm Now Available for Under $100

RIM’s first attempt at creating a touchscreen BlackBerry smart phone has seen better days. Subject to mediocre reviews, lackluster performance and other negatives factors, the BlackBerry Storm is now available on Amazon.com for an extremely low price. You can buy the Storm after an instant rebate and by signing up for a 2-year Verizon Wireless contract for $99.

The Storm has been criticized and reviewed negatively for having a marginal touch screen, bulky size and buggy software. RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie called the post-launch mess of the BlackBerry Storm a “new reality” in smartphone software - whatever that’s supposed to mean. RIM has since released a software update to address the issues of their touch screen phone.

Although the Storm performed well with over 500,000 units sold during the first month following its launch, it pales in comparison to iPhone’s 3 million units sold during it’s first month.
